Apple Week-Monday

September was the start of our four day apple week.  We started on Monday trying apple chips.

We all received an apple to conduct our investigations. First, we learned what the circumference is and brainstormed how to measure it.  Surely a ruler would not work with the round apple. We decided yarn would be the most convenient when measuring the circumference. We used rulers and discussed inches.

Next, we estimated how many unifix cubes heavy one apple was.  Then we weighed the apple on a balance.

After, we estimated and then measured how many unifix cubes high our apples were.

Last, we estimated the number of seeds our apple would have and counted them.  Of course, we enjoyed the apple afterwards.

We didn't forget a mini lesson on adjectives.  An apple can be described by many adjectives.
